Infant sling carriers make carrying around infants and toddlers easier for a lot of parents. However, it has been found that due to defects in the products, these garments may not be as safe as they should be. Recently there have been 67 injuries and 17 deaths. The CPSC responded by implementing a new safety standard. This was to require sling carriers to be made in a sturdy manner and go through very rigorous testing. The products must also include warnings, instructions, and pictures on how to use since there is also a serious suffocation risk. Why is this just being implemented, especially if it is being used for small children? Shouldn’t it have been a serious concern all along?
